Michael Harris, Paramedic

Instructor

My name is Mike Harris. I am a paramedic of 27 years and I work for IU Health Bloomington. Working in EMS, a field I love, has been most rewarding in that I enjoy what I do so it’s not like working at all. The field of medicine is special in that it has a unique breed of people with big hearts and strong emotional character. In addition to paramedicine, I have maintained a small business as a mechanical contractor for nearly 30 years. When you spend a long time in a field, you learn many useful aids that I feel you have a duty to pass on to new incoming health care personnel. So for 17 years I have been working as an educator for several hospitals with the American Heart Association. I teach the following courses: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Heartsaver. As a senior paramedic, I have a responsibility to pass on my knowledge to others, and I do so willingly. Hope to meet you soon.
